This sentence means roughly my house is on the side (literally: my peasant house (is) from edge), but it actually is an idiomatic expression which means "it’s none of my concern". That’s kind of ironic, and that’s a nice example of Russian humour as well: it implies that one's house is away from the center of the conflict, and thus the house is not at danger, and because of that the conflict is none of their business.
