Introduction to Sambahsa:
Lesson 54

By mundialecter

To get their past participle (and past tense) form, many Sambahsa verbs have to undergo a special modification called "ablaut". For example, to get the past form of a verb whose central vowels are ei, you must delete the e before adding the final -t.

Let’s translate I have sent that letter. I have is ho, that is tod, and letter (post) is brev. To send is yeis (IPA jejs).

I have sent that letter.

Answer: Ho yist tod brev.
