Introduction to Swedish: 44

Alright. The last thing we need to know how to say is bye. There are a lot of ways and we will only learn one. You will also need to know that the Swedish for so is (so almost the same as in English.

When you want to say bye! in Swedish, you could say have it so good! (also using the word bra). You already have all the tools to make a guess what that is. So have it so good - bye:

  1. You are saying "have it so good", and using the word "bra" instead of "god". The imperative word for "have" is only two letters long, and comes from the infinitive form.
  2. Do you remember that "hi" was "hej"? Also, you are asking "how have you it?" (Remember that "how" was "hur".)
  3. You are saying "I have it good, thanks".
  4. The same word order as in English. "From" was "från", and where was "var".
  5. Sweden was "Sverige".
  6. Literally: "No, I speak not English."
  7. This sounds similar to "whatfor?"
  8. Your car comes with a bill, remember?
  9. Be careful to use "en" and "et" where appropriate.
  10. You will be saying "the car", thus add the right article to end the word.
  11. Use the word "vara" for "be". Be careful as to whether you use "det" or "den".
  12. This is, remember, literally "have it so good". Use the word "bra" for "good", and "så" for so.
